Key Issues Facing Monroe and Newtown Voters
Taxes – Over the past ten years, Connecticut has had multiple massive tax hikes under Democratic leadership. Already this year we are seeing every employee take a pay cut to fund a 0.5% payroll tax on a new Paid Family Medical Leave program and an estimated $0.05-$0.17 gas tax hike to fund a Transportation and Climate Initiative Program. Those might sound small, but they add up to a lot for Connecticut residents who are already paying the 3rd highest Property Taxes in the country. I will be your voice in Hartford to fight the battle of over taxation and keep more dollars in your pockets and not in the state’s coffers.
Municipality Funding – Monroe and Newtown need to continue to have a voice in Hartford that will fight for towns as hard as others do for the cities. Just because our towns are more financially prudent and smaller in size, does not make them less deserving and in need for funding for Education, Public Safety and Infrastructure.Education – Everyone understands the importance of educating our children, the future leaders of Connecticut, but we need to continue to keep pushing to make it easier for communities to provide this essential right. Elements like teacher pensions and arbitration need to be looked at to not hinder cities and towns from providing the best education at affordable costs.
